Speaking of Food

I hear folks talking
About coffee’s hard to get,
And they don’t know how
They’re going to live without it.

I hear some others saying
They can’t buy no meat to fry,
And the way they say it
You’d think they’re gonna die.

If I was to sit down
And write to Uncle Sam,
I’ll tell him that I reckon
I can make it without ham.

I’d say, “Feed those fighting forces
For they’re the ones today
That need to have their victuals
To wipe our foes away!”

Looks to me
That’s what we ought to say.
